Director of Facilities

Flexjet is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Facilities Director to lead our Facilities Building Maintenance team at our state-of-the-art headquarters at Cuyahoga County Airport in Richmond Heights, Ohio. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Facilities, this role is responsible for overseeing the building and grounds, utilities, energy management, and safety/security systems to ensure a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for all employees and visitors. In addition to managing the headquarters campus, the Facilities Director also oversees facility-related work orders and vendor services for multiple external U.S.-based locations, including White Plains, Teterboro, Morgantown, Binghamton, Naples, Van Nuys, Dallas, and more. The ideal candidate will bring proven leadership experience, exceptional attention to detail, and a strong commitment to operational excellence.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct, manage, supervise, and coordinate building maintenance, janitorial services, and groundskeeping for the Flexjet Global Headquarters and all external U.S.-based locations.
  • Maintain regular and prompt attendance; be available for night/weekend hours and on-call 24/7/365 for life/safety issues, building systems, equipment, and snow removal. Respond swiftly to crises.
  • Lead, supervise, and evaluate Facilities Maintenance and Janitorial staff; oversee hiring, training, performance evaluations, coaching, delegation of duties, and terminations as needed.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with other departments, outside agencies, and contractors to support repairs, preventive maintenance, and construction projects.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections to assess cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance; identify deficiencies, coordinate repairs, and ensure preventive maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, and life/safety systems.
  • Initiate work orders for maintenance needs, engaging vendors or contractors as required.
  • Oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing, control systems, cooling tower, HVAC, and building roofs; manage contracted services to ensure timely completion.
  • Serve as liaison with city, county, and state agencies regarding fire detection and prevention systems.
  • Assist in preparing annual operating and capital budgets; develop recommendations for facility improvements and capital projects, obtain quotes, and oversee approved work.
  • Manage inventory of maintenance equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA, OSHA, and other safety regulations; promote safe work practices, use PPE as required, and ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain parking lot signage, asphalt, and striping.
  • Provide exceptional service to both internal and external customers.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED required, Facilities Management degree a plus.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in facilities management, engineering, or a related field.
  • CFM or FMP certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of FAA requirements, relevant state and local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, life/safety equipment, BMS operations, sprinkler systems, tools, landscaping equipment, and snow removal equipment.
  • Knowledge of gardening techniques, tree trimming, and gardening products (fertilizers/pesticides) a plus.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Drug-free with reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • Able to read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to train personnel on the safe use of power, hand, and gas-operated tools (e.g., table saws, drills, oscillating saws) a plus.
  • Physically capable of lifting, pulling, climbing, bending, stooping, crouching, squatting, reaching, shoveling, and standing for extended periods on hard surfaces; able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Willing and able to be on-call 24/7 for inclement weather or emergencies, including in-person response to life/safety issues.
  • Willing to travel to other properties to assess operations and assist with projects.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing demands.
  • Professional, collaborative, and customer-focused; able to work independently or in a team, communicate effectively at all levels (including C-suite), and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and vendors.
